Nelson, 20 Points to 1,000
MARYVILLE -- The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team will matchup with No. 22 Emporia State for the second time within a week. Senior guard Kelli Nelson needs just 20 points to become the 21st player in Northwest history to reach 1,000 career points. Northwest dropped the last game versus the Hornets 90-76 in Maryville, but will play this game in William L. White Auditorium, the highest average attendance in the MIAA.
Senior forward Lauren Williams has been playing excellent basketball in the past five games. She recorded her third career double-double in the loss to Southwest Baptist and has averaged 14.0 points per game and 4.6 rebounds during the hot stretch. Senior post Mandi Schumacher also posted a double-double against Southwest Baptist with 22 points and 10 boards.
The Bearcat seniors are 0-8 against the Hornets and what better time to get your first victory against Emporia than on their home floor.
