Jennies, Bearcats Matchup in Maryville
MARYVILLE -- The Bearcats (10-6, 5-2 MIAA) and Jennies (6-10, 1-6 MIAA) will come to Bearcat Arena on Saturday, Jan. 26, with tip set for 1:30 p.m. The Bearcats are coming off a tough loss at Truman, while Central is riding their first conference win against Fort Hays State into Maryville.
The Bearcats have relied on the steady play of Mandi Schumacher since conference play began. She has poured in 18 points per game during seven conference games and has hit double-digits nine of the last 10 games. Kelli Nelson broke the career 3-point mark knocking down four versus Truman giving her 165 career shots from beyond the arc.
Lauren Williams and Jessica Burton have showed some pesky defense lately combining for 21 steals in the last four games. Defensively, Northwest will have to contain Central guard Lindsey Maple, who paces the Jennies with 17.9 points per game. The Jennies are at the bottom of many statistical categories in the MIAA, but hold the overall edge on Northwest 54-21.
