First Place Bearcats Travel to Truman
MARYVILLE -- The first place Bearcats (10-5, 5-1 MIAA) travel to Kirksville hoping to continue their seven-game winning streak against the Bulldogs (11-4, 3-3 MIAA) at 5:30 p.m. The Bearcats have more wins (46) against Truman than any other opponent in Northwest history.
Northwest has won five of its last six contests averaging 75.8 points during the strech. Mandi Schumacher, recently named MIAA Player of the Week (Jan. 21), has paced Northwest during conference play averaging 18 points per game and shooting a sizzling 67.6 percent from the field. April Miller has dished out a team-high 29 assists and turned in an impressive 2.23 assist/turnover ratio the past six games.
Kelli Nelson is closing in on few milestones. She needs just three 3-pointer's to break the school record of 163 set by Laura Friederich and is 66 points shy of becoming a 1,000 point scorer. Teammate Mandi Schumacher broke the 1,000 point barrier earlier this season and Nelson would be the 21st player in Northwest history to achieve 1,000 career points.
