Fort Hays State Comes to Maryville
MARYVILLE -- The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team will host Fort Hays State (6-4, 0-1 MIAA) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Bearcats look for its second straight conference win after taking down Southwest Baptist in a shootout, 101-97.
Fort Hays State is dead last in MIAA scoring offense averaging 65.6 points per game, but only allows 61.0 points defensively. Northwest will have to adjust quickly to a slow down offense coming off the high scoring game versus the Lady Bearcats.
Northwest's biggest challenge defensively will be Naomi Bancroft, who leads the league in 3-pointers averaging 4.12 per game. She's hit 33-of-84 attempts from beyond the arc and paces the offensive with 14.1 points per game. Sheena Kuntzsch and Brianna Willhite chip in 13.7 and 13.0 points per game, respectively.
Mandi Schumacher is averaging 21.3 points per game over the past four games with back-to-back double-double's. Kelli Nelson knocked down a career-high six 3-pointer's against Southwest Baptist and recorded a season-high 22 points.
