MARYVILLE -- Northwest Missouri State senior basketball players April Miller and Andy Peterson were honored on the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams announced today. Both graduate students, Miller and Peterson received a second-team honor in District 7.
Peterson finished with a 3.82 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and currently maintains a 3.88 graduate GPA in Agriculture Economics. Miller posted a 4.0 undergraduate GPA in business managament and has continued the flawless GPA into a masters of business (MBA) program in marketing.
Peterson, who missed five games with a back injury, has started 13 of 19 games for the Bearcats this season. He's averaging a team-best 13.2 points per game in MIAA play and is the Bearcats' second-leading 3-point shooter with 25 treys.
Peterson's posted 20 points twice this season and has a career-best tally of 23 set against Emporia State last season. Peterson is one of three players in Northwest history to record 100 steals and his 100 3-pointers in a career.
Miller has started all 19 games for the Bearcats this season and leads the team with 65 assists. Her 1.86 assist-to-turnover ratio currently ranks third in the MIAA. She's dished out five or more assists six times this season.
Miller has totaled 170 assists and 97 steals in her four-year career. She matched her career-high with nine points against Southwest Baptist hitting 4-of-6 from field last Saturday.
