Bearcats Break Team Record in 95-82 Win
MARYVILLE, Mo. - ( stats ) The Northwest Missouri State women's hoops team broke a single game record with 13 3-pointers on the way to it's 95-82 win over Montana-State Billings. The 92 points is the most for the Bearcats this season as six players poured in double-digit points. The Bearcats led by as much as 16 points with 7:46 left in the second half before the Yellowjackets cut into the lead. Northwest shot 45.9% (34-of-74) and hit 52.6% (13-of-25) from 3-point range, both season-highs.
Junior Mandi Schumacher led the Bearcats with her best performance of the season. She poured in a season-high 21 points, on 10-of-17 shooting, and grabbed 14 boards for her third double-double this season. Junior Kelli Nelson chipped in 19 points hitting three of the 13 team 3-pointers. Junior Lauren Williams posted a career best 18 points knocking down 4-of-5 from 3-point land.
The Yellowjackets were led by Alira Carpenter with 20 points and Michelle Lieber's double-double, of 12 points and 13 rebounds. Billings committed 23 turnovers compared to 17 by the Bearcats.
The Bearcats start the season 6-1, while Montana-State Billings falls to 2-2 after the loss. Northwest will host St. Marys (Texas) on Monday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
