Northwest Women Defeated in Hawaii 56-50

HONOLULU, Hi-The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team played its first game in the annual Hoop 'N Surf Classic this afternoon. The Bearcats were defeated by Northeastern (Okla.) State 56-50.

Northwest was led offensively by senior Laura Friederich (Overland Park, Kan.), who scored a team high 13 points. The Bearcats were also led by junior Katie O'Grady (Falls City, Neb.), who pulled down a team high six rebounds along with Friederich.

The Bearcats will pick action back up tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. CST against No. 14 Valdosta (Ga.) State. Northwest is now 6-3 on the year, while Northeastern improves to 7-3.
