Northwest Falls in Overtime 88-86 at Concordia-St. Paul
ST. Paul, Minn. -- The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team fell for the first time in 2005-06 with a 88-86 overtime loss at Concordia-St. Paul tonight. The Golden Bears received votes in the latest WBCA national poll.
Northwest lost the rebounding battle 53-44.
Th Bearcat were led by junior Katie O'Grady (Falls City, Neb) with 18 points and sophomore Mandi Schumacher (Columbus, Neb.) posted her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. In her first action of the season, senior Laura Friederich ended with 12 points in 22 minutes off the bench. The team's leading scorer last season at 14.7 ppg, Friederich was held out of action with back problems.
Nakia Carlisle paced all scorers with a career-high 32 points for Concordia-St. Paul.
Northwest will now play Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday, Dec. 1at 7 p.m. The Bearcats fall to 4-1 while Concordia-St. Paul goes to 2-2.
