Uriell Signs National Letter of Intent at Northwest
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head women's basketball coach
Gene Steinmeyer has announced the signing of Micaela Uriell (Shawnee, Kan.) to a NCAA
Division II National Letter-of-Intent today.
Uriell is the first Northwest signee in the early signing date, which takes place Nov. 10 through
She is a 5-foot 10 inch forward from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. Uriell averaged
15 points, six rebounds, two assists and 2.5 steals per game during her junior year. Uriell was
named to the All-Sunflower League first team and the Topeka Capital-Journal 6A All-State third
team in 2003-04. She was also named to the All Johnson County first team, Kansas City Star All
Metro second team and chosen as the MVP for the Truman High School Tournament.
Uriell was part of the team that won the Kansas Sub-State Championship and participated in the Kansas 6A State Tournament. She has been a varsity letterwinner all three years of high school thus far.
"Micaela plays in one of the best 6A classes in the state of Kansas," Steinmeyer said. "She faces
great competition night in and night out. She is very versatile and fits our system perfectly with
her great height and ability to play inside and outside. Micaela played for one of the top AAU
teams in the state and we are very excited to get her to Northwest."
Uriell will be a freshman at Northwest next fall.
