Bearcats fall to No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team fell to No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney in three sets Saturday at Bearcat Arena.
The Bearcats stayed close in all three sets. Head coach Amy Woerth’s team came out fighting and were down 20-17 before UNK pulled away with a 25-20 victory in set number one.
Set two was a back and forth battle early on as the set was tied 12-12 at one point. The Lopers were able to take the lead and thwart off a late Bearcat rally and take the second set 25-19.
Northwest was down two late in the third set, 21-19, before UNK went on a four to two run to sweep the match and take the final set 21-25.
Abby Graves led the way for the Bearcats with nine kills while adding one block. Bailey Vance posted 15 digs bringing her season total to 444.
Northwest moves to 11-17, 5-10 on the season. The Bearcats will have their final game of the regular season Friday as they host Southwest Baptist in Bearcat Arena with the start time scheduled for 7 p.m.
