Volleyball falls at Missouri WesternBox Score
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team fell to Missouri Western, 3-1, on Tuesday evening in an MIAA contest at the MWSU Field House. The loss drops Northwest to 9-15 on the season and 3-8 in conference play. Missouri Western improved to 13-13 and 6-6 in MIAA action.
Northwest fell behind early in the first set 8-3 but battled back to tie the match at 15-15. The Bearcats would then go on to score 10 of the next 16 points to take the set, 25-21. But Missouri Western would come back to tie the match in the second set, 25-19. After the break, the Griffons would hit .333 and .406, respectively, to take the final two sets, 25-18 and 25-16.
Abby Graves had a team-high 12 kills while Shelby Duren added 11 kills to go along with 11 digs. Bridget Hanafin had 37 assists, two service aces and seven digs. Miranda Foster had a team-best 14 digs and three blocks.
Northwest will host a pair of MIAA matches this weekend at Bearcat Arena. On Friday, the Bearcats will host Lindenwood and on Saturday, they will take on Missouri Southern. Both matches start at 7 p.m. Admission to Saturday's contest, that was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., will have free admission.
