Volleyball Splits Pair of Decisions on SaturdayHarding Box Score | Southwestern Oklahoma Box Score
JOPLIN, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team split a pair of decisions on Saturday at the Missouri Southern Tournament at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Mo. The Bearcats fell in a morning match to Harding, 3-0, but rebounded to defeat Southwestern Oklahoma in the afternoon session, 3-0. Northwest is now 9-9 on the season.
Against Harding, Northwest was never quite able to get on track, dropping the first two-sets, 25-15 and 25-22. In the third set, the Bearcats took the decision to extra points but came up short, falling 27-25. Abby Graves had a team-high 12 kills. Bridget Hanafin had 26 digs to go along with five kills. Bailey Vance had 14 digs and Aarika Wittenburg added 11 digs.
Northwest controlled the afternoon match against Southwestern Oklahoma, winning 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21. In the second set, Northwest hit .393. Graves had a match high 15 kills. Mackie Keller added 12 kills. Hanafin added 40 assists to go along with two service aces. Miranda Foster recorded 17 digs and Bailey Vance had 16 digs defensively for the Bearcats. Kirsten Hudgens had a game-high five service aces. Brooke Bartosh had three blocks.
Northwest returns to Bearcat Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 15, for an MIAA contest against Central Missouri at 7 p.m.
