Volleyball Falls Twice on NSIC Final DayAugustana Box Score | Sioux Falls Box Score
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team (4-4) fell to host schools Augustana (S.D.) and Sioux Falls at the NSIC Challenge on Saturday.
Against Augustana, Northwest dropped the first set before rebounding to take the second, 27-25. Northwest, however, was unable to win either of the final two sets. Junior Abby Graves and sophomore Shelby Duren each recorded 13 kills to lead the team. Junior Brooke Bartosh added 11. Senior setter Bridget Hanafin had 42 assists. Graves was one of four Bearcats to reach double-digit dig totals with 17. Junior Bailey Vance had 16, Duren added 15 and Hanafin had 10.
Against Sioux Falls in the nightcap, the Bearcats started strong and took the first set, 25-21. But after a tough fought second set in which Northwest fell, 26-24, Sioux Falls was able to take the final two sets to claim the match. Bartosh had a team-best 14 kills and Hanafin added 37 assists. Graves led the team with two service aces.
Bartosh and Graves were both named to the NSIC Challenge All Tournament team.
Northwest returns home for a 7 p.m. matchup against Missouri Western at Bearcat Arena on Tuesday in the MIAA opener.
