Northwest volleyball adds three
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team announced the addition of three new faces for the 2013 season on Friday to complete the early signing period.
Paige Tenski from Omaha, Neb., Jackie Becker from Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Haleigh Offield from Kansas City, Mo., round out the newest additions for interim head coach Amy Phelps.
Offield was a three-year letter winner at Oak Park High School starting at middle blocker. She helped lead her team to a 22-11-2 mark and finished with a 93 percent serving percentage. Offield was a first-team all-conference selection and a two-time all-district pick.
Becker prepped at William Chrisman and earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior as well as being named all-district twice. She finished her senior season with 254 kills and 69 blocks helping earning all-region accolades and was nominated for the Evelyn Gates Award. She also excelled in the classroom being named academic all-state three straight years.
Tenski was a three-year letter winner at libero helping Omaha Burke High School to a state runner-up finish as a junior. She finished her senior season with 358 digs and nine aces and accumulated a 97 percent serving percentage. Tenski also helped her club team qualify for the national tournament the last six years and earned all-tournament honors in 2012.
Northwest finished the season at 15-17 and 9-9 in league play. The Bearcats earned a spot in the MIAA postseason tournament where they fell to nationally ranked Central Missouri, 3-1.
