Bearcats fall to 11-11 with a tough loss

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s volleyball team struggled to stay in front of Pittsburg State in a 3-2 loss Sunday afternoon at Bearcat Arena.

The loss moves the Bearcats to .500 on the year at 11-11 and a 5-4 record in conference competition.

Nicole Rockhold of Pittsburg State led the Gorillas with 21 digs on defense. Rockhold also led the Gorilla offense with 17 kills.

Tori Beckman totaled 38 digs for the Bearcat defense. Beckman’s 422 digs this season ranks her among the top five in the MIAA.

The Bearcat offense was led in a dual effort from Brooke Bartosh and Abby Graves who each had 22 kills in the loss.

The Bearcats have the week to prepare for a road trip to Topeka, Kan., Friday to play the nationally ranked Washburn Ichabods (21-1, 8-1 MIAA) in their second meeting this season with Friday's match counting in the MIAA standings.
