Northwest overcomes tough SBU team
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team continues its undefeated record in the MIAA with a 3-2 win against Southwest Baptist Friday.
Southwest Baptist came back and won set three and four, but Northwest held on in the fifth set to win 25-22, 27-25, 24-26, 20-25, 15-13.
Northwest moves to 9-5 overall and 5-0 in league play with the win. With the loss Southwest Baptist is 4-11 overall and 0-5 in league play.
Dallas Gardner helped the Bearcats to the victory as she totaled 34 assists and had 13 kills with a .500 attack percentage.
Abby Graves led the Bearcat offense in total attacks, 63, and also led all players with 20 kills.
Southwest Baptist was led by Jordan Nedbalek on defense as she totaled 6 blocks and one solo block on the night. Nedbalek also was a big part of the Southwest Baptist offense with 14 kills and .433 attack percentage.
The Bearcats travel to Kirksville, Mo., Saturday to play Truman in a conference match-up. The first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
