Bearcats cruise past Lions, 3-0

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team rolled past Lindenwood Friday night taking a 3-0 win at Bearcat Arena.

The Bearcats moved to 6-4 on the year and stayed perfect at 2-0 in league play. MIAA newcomer Lindenwood fell to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in MIAA action in the loss.

The Bearcats won in three sets, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, over the Lions needing a strong rally in the second set to finish off the sweep.

In the first set, Lindenwood went back and forth with the Bearcats until a five point run made the score 20-15 in favor of Northwest. From there Northwest cruised as they set the pace for the next two sets to for their second conference win of the season.

Brooke Bartosh led the Bearcat offense with 11 kills giving her 118 on the season. Abby Graves contributed on both offense and defense with nine kills and 14 digs.

Defensive specialist Tori Beckman also had 14 digs in the win.

The Lions setter Emma Brydels tallied 19 assists.

The Bearcats continue their homestand as they host Missouri Southern at 6 p.m. Saturday.
