Bearcats fall to fifth-ranked Lady Blues
TOPEKA, Kan. – The fifth-ranked Washburn Lady Blues won their 16th straight knocking off Northwest Missouri State 3-0 in MIAA volleyball action at Lee Arena.
The Bearcats fall to 10-13 overall and 4-6 in league play as Washburn improved to 23-1 and 10-0 in the MIAA. Northwest returns home Friday for a three game home-stand hosting Fort Hays State on Friday and Emporia State on Saturday.
Northwest was held in check hitting under .300 in all three sets while the Lady Blues cruised to 25-18, 25-15, 25-20 win.
The Bearcats could not get a rally started as Washburn finished with two players in double figure kills. Freshman Brooke Bartosh led Northwest with nine kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Bartosh only committed one error in 20 chances.
Laira Akin again finished another solid performance adding 32 assists in the loss.
The Bearcats return home looking for revenge against Emporia State while they try to sweep the season series with Fort Hays State. First serve from Bearcat Arena is 7 p.m. Friday with a 3 p.m. start on Saturday.
