Bearcats Home Opener

2011 MIAA Women's Volleyball l Follow the Bearcats LIVE - Listen to the Bearcats LIVE

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Bearcat volleyball team has their home opener Tuesday night as they host perennial powerhouse Washburn.

Northwest (3-6, 0-1 MIAA) matches up against the sixth-ranked Washburn University Lady Blues (8-1, 1-0 MIAA) at 7 p.m. at Bearcat Arena.  The Bearcats are coming off being swept by twenty-second ranked Emporia State 3-0.

The Bearcats struggled against the Emporia State Hornets falling 25-19, 25-21, and 25-20.  The bright spot of the match was senior standout Laira Akin recording her third double-double of the season notching 36 assists and 10 digs in the loss. 

The first 100 students in attendance at Tuesday's home opener will also receive a free Bearcats shirt!

Northwest continues MIAA play as the travel to Fort Hays State (6-5, 0-3 MIAA) on Friday.  The Bearcats are 10-4-1 when playing the Tigers all-time and 4-0 when playing them at Bearcat Arena.  Last season Northwest swept Fort Hays State 6-0.
