Bearcats Drop Road Game to No. 12 Emporia State
EMPORIA, Kan.-The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team's three-match winning streak came to an end Saturday night as the Bearcats were defeated by No. 12 Emporia State on the road 10-25, 28-30 and 16-25.
Alex Hanna led the Bearcats with 12 kills and hit .333 in the match. Hanna also tied with Sara Falcone with a team-high two service aces. Hanna also had a solo block and one seven digs in the loss. Falcone and Amber Ryan chipped in with eight and six kills, respectively. Falcone also recorded 10 digs.
Laira Akin recorded 28 of Northwest's 29 assists against the Hornets. Paige Spangenberg led the Bearcat defense with 24 digs and also had an ace.
For the match, Northwest had 22 attack errors to Emporia's 10. The Bearcats also hit .075 while Emporia State hit .267. Emporia's Brittney Miller had a match-high 16 kills for the Hornets who improved to 19-5 overall and 10-3 in the MIAA.
Northwest (11-10, 7-6 MIAA) will play a non-conference match against Rockhurst on Tuesday night in Kansas City before returning home for a pair of matches homecoming weekend against Pittsburg State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Southwest Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
