Northwest Drops Road Contest to No. 10 Truman
KIRKSVILLE, Mo.-The Bearcat volleyball team was swept Friday night by No. 10 Truman in an MIAA match in Kirksville. Set scores went 13-25, 9-25 and 20-25.
Northwest Missouri State was led in the match by Sara Falcone's seven kills. Falcone also had two blocks and four digs in the loss. Alex Hanna and Whitney Mason each chipped in with six kills apiece, Mason also added a block. Setter Laira Akin led the Bearcats with 24 assists and added two digs. Akin also had the team's lone service ace.
Rachel Nisi led the Bearcat back row with nine digs in the match. Paige Spangenberg had eight digs, while Tori Beckman had seven of her own. It marks the first time since Sept. 12 of last year that Spangenberg did not lead the Bearcats in digs in a match.
Truman (18-3, 7-2 MIAA) hit .371 in the match while Northwest hit .018 as a team. The Bearcats also committed 25 attack errors to Truman's five.
Northwest (8-9, 4-5 MIAA) looks to snap its three-game slide tomorrow evening as the Bearcats host Missouri Southern at 5 p.m. inside Bearcat Arena.
