Northwest Bearcats

Press Release

Nov. 6, 2009

Laira Akin, Sophomore, S/OH, Volleyball

Hello Bearcat fans!

First off I must start with an apology, to all of you who read my blog, I'm sorry my postings have been sporadic lately. But I think that comes along with being a student-athlete, there's a reason the student part is first! But now back to business:

We had a great game on Halloween…or should I say Spooktacular, ok I'm not going to lie I really wanted to win just so I could say that ? I mean I always want to win but with this I really wanted to use my little saying! And we did win so I got to use it!

The game against SBU was a good test for us because there were times when we were commanding the game and there were times when we were not but in the end, it was we who dictated the pace and the outcome of the game. We hoped to carry that same mentality in to the UNO game.

However that game just didn't really go as planned…we lost in three (something that we never plan to do) and it seemed like, you know when you're putting together a puzzle, all the pieces are there but individually they don't do you very much good. You need them to be put together to get the picture. That was us at UNO, at times people were playing great, Ashley had 5 blocks (which is really good considering that we did only play 3 games) and the middles were doing a great job. But we just couldn't get it all put together. We had a great practice tonight and are ready for UCM on Friday.

Well hopefully my next updates will start to get back to a normal pattern but until then.
