
OMAHA, Neb. –The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team dropped a match on the road on Wednesday night at No. 20 Nebraska-Omaha, 16-25, 20-25 and 18-25.
Alex Hanna, Ashley Mitchell and Kelsey Larson all had six kills to lead the Bearcats in the loss. Mitchell also added a solo block and four block assists. Sara Falcone and Amber Ryan each added five kills. Falcone chipped in with seven digs.
Laira Akin had a solid match from her setter position. Akin had 23 assists to lead Northwest, and added a kill, a block, a service ace and had 11 digs. Libero Paige Spangenberg led the Bearcats with 16 digs in the match. Spangenberg is now 64 digs away from breaking the all-time program career digs record held by Jill Quast.
Northwest (13-29, 4-12 MIAA) will host another ranked team on Friday, in sixth-ranked Central Missouri at 7 p.m. inside Bearcat Arena.
