Press Release

Oct. 19, 2009

Pink Out and Beating Southern

Laira Akin, Sophomore, S/OH, Volleyball

Well Bearcat fans it's been a while and for that I apologize. Things have been quite busy and hectic lately. We've had some ups and downs within the program lately, but I prefer to focus on the upside of things! To be honest I'm tired of talking about, and being asked about all the bad stuff, or rather the more the controversial stuff going on. As a team we've decided to move on and make the best of this season, because it's an honor to play for Bearcat volleyball.

So on to the good stuff. We had a huge crowd at Pink Out last week in our game against Mo West. Sadly we weren't able to come away with a win but seeing as it was my first experience at a Pink Out game, I was really excited to play in it. I feel like we came away with a win of a different kind. We won in the sense that we helped raise awareness for Breast Cancer!

After that game we went to play Truman…which wasn't the best game for any of us and, well, we're just going leave it at that.

Now on to the exciting and happy part of last week - our win against Missouri Southern! It was a great game and an exciting five-set match in which we played very well. We were able to push through and come away with the win. We've now finished the first round of conference play and Tuesday we're starting round two of the match-ups. We start with Washburn on Tuesday at their place. Hopefully this time around we'll do a little better!

Until next time
