Bearcats Fall in Three to No. 4 Central Missouri
WARRENSBURG, Mo.-The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team played their third consecutive ranked opponent Friday night when they faced No. 4 Central Missouri in Warrensburg. The Bearcats were defeated 17-25, 19-25 and 20-25.
Sara Falcone had a solid game for the Bearcats once again. Falcone, along with Amber Ryan led the Bearcats with nine kills in the match. Falcone also led the squad with a .389 hitting percentage and chipped in with 11 digs. Ashley Mitchell added six kills of her own. Laira Akin had 28 of the team's 29 assists in the match and recorded a service ace and two kills. Libero Paige Spangenberg led the team with 14 digs.
The Bearcats were out-blocked in the match eight to one while committing 15 attacking errors, and hit .165 as a team. Allie Huffman led the Jennies with 12 kills in the match.
Northwest (10-13, 1-6 MIAA) will be at home for their next match on Oct. 14 against Missouri Western. It's the third annual "pink out" match to raise breast cancer awareness. The match starts at 7 p.m. in Bearcat Arena. Come out and wear your pink in support of your Bearcats and to help fight breast cancer!
