Bearcats Travel Friday to Face No. 4 Central Missouri
MARYVILLE, Mo. -The Northwest Missouri State volleyball squad travels to Warensburg, Mo., to face No. 4 Central Missouri, the match starts at 7 p.m. The Bearcats (10-12, 1-5 MIAA) are coming off of a three-set loss at the hands of Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
In that match the Bearcats came out of the gates firing early and led for most of the first set before UNO took over down the stretch in the first, and finished out the next two sets strongly. Freshman Kelsey Larson led Northwest with nine kills. The Mavericks slowed the Bearcat offensive attack in the match holding them to a .086 hitting percentage.
Setter Laira Akin is starting to regain her health. Akin, who is seventh in the league in assists, looks to play in her fourth straight match after sitting out of a couple two weeks ago. She has been hampered by a back injury as of late.
The Jennies come into the match on a 12 match winning streak, and 14 of their last 15. Central Missouri is led by outside hitter Allie Huffman who is seventh in the league with 246 kills. Setter Caitlin Pankratz is fourth in the MIAA with 10.81 assists per set.
Central Missouri will be the third-straight ranked opponent the Bearcats will face.
