Bearcats to Face Another Ranked Foe This Evening
Maryville, Mo. -Junior Sara Falcone, fresh off her selection to the Washburn Fall Classic all-tournament team, leads the Bearcats into action this evening against No. 15 Nebraska-Omaha. Start time is set for 7 p.m. in Bearcat Arena.
Falcone had 45 kills while hitting .385 in the tournament. She also added 16 blocks and 15 digs in the four matches. Junior Libero Paige Spangenberg is also coming off of a solid weekend. Spangenberg recorded 93 digs in the tournament, including a season-best 39 against Tarleton State. Spangenberg is second on the program's all-time career digs list with 1,640.
Northwest Missouri State (10-11, 1-4) hasn't defeated UNO (15-4, 5-1 MIAA) since 2007. Falcone, as a freshman led Northwest in that match with 16 kills and hit .312. The Bearcats are also looking for their first conference victory at home this season when they face the Mavericks.
Northwest's defense around the net will be the key in this match, as they come into the match-up ranked second in the MIAA with 2.1 blocks per set. Northwest controlling the net will be important in trying to shutdown UNO's Ellen Thommes who leads the league with a .447 hitting percentage and is sixth with 3.39 kills per set.
