Last weekend we came away with a 1-1 record in conference play. Friday night was an exciting one as we came out on top in a five-game match against Fort Hays State. It was nice to get our longest drive for conference matches out of the way so early.
After the match was over we packed up, grabbed a quick bite to eat, and drove to Salina, Kan., where we spent the night. Road trips where we stay in hotels are always pretty fun. It gives us a chance to relax and take it easy…and typically find plenty of things to talk and laugh about!
Late Saturday morning we took off for Emporia-on the road again! Once again, I spent most of the bus ride sleeping…go figure. We arrived with plenty of time to walk around and get a feel for the gym.
Our athletic trainer, Nick, set up his "training table" on a stage in the gym since there wasn't a training room at the site we played at. I don't think Laira or I have mentioned Nick yet in our blogs, so I figured this would be a good chance to introduce you all to him! He does a really good job of getting everyone the treatment they need, as well as putting up with all of the "goofy" personalities on the team.
The Emporia match was another hard fought one. Unfortunately we came up on the short side. I like that our conference schedule is now set up so that we play each team twice rather than having the two divisions. This gives us the opportunity to come back around later on in the season for a second chance at the games that slipped away.
Hope to see you at our games this weekend! GO BEARCATS!!
