My Week In Reverse
-Paige Spangenberg, Junior, L/DS, Volleyball
Has it really been a week already since the last blog?! I'm beginning to agree with everyone's Facebook statuses lately along the lines of "there just aren't enough hours in a day!" This week's details will go somewhat in reverse since we just wrapped up our first conference match a couple hours ago.
We opened conference play at home with Washburn and unfortunately came up with a 0-3 loss. The sweep is a little deceiving, as it was a very back and forth, competitive match. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us tonight, we really appreciate our fans!
A few highlights that stood out to me was game one in general, but especially the way we came out ready to play. Laira (mine and everyone else's favorite setter) started our run with aggressive serving which was vital in gaining so much momentum on our side. Ashley Mitchell brought her game tonight as well and did a really nice job of putting the ball away…as a defensive player-I'm glad she's on my side of the net!
Last weekend we played in a tournament at Wisconsin Parkside and finished up 1-3. Of course it would have been nice to come away with a better record, but on the bright side we figured out some areas that needed work before our conference season began. Also a little fun fact, Parkside's gym had no air-conditioning…and let's just put it this way, I sweat more than anyone I know. So to say the least, it was a very hot and sweaty weekend!
We miss yet another day of Friday classes this week for our road trip to play Fort Hays and Emporia State. Once again, thank goodness for cooperative teachers! I probably won't know what to do when I actually have to attend all of my M/W/F classes during the week!
