Some Positives From Washburn
Laira Akin, Sophomore, S/OH, Volleyball
Well I'm actually writing this right before I go to bed so it's probably not going to be as long as my previous blogs but I hope you'll forgive me. We played Washburn tonight and to be honest I had my heart and mind set that we were going to win - no doubt in my mind.
We didn't come away with a win in terms of our record, but we did win in another way. We won in the sense that we battled, there's nothing else to call it. We fought hard and tonight they made fewer errors than we did and we gave up some points at the wrong time which gave them the momentum to push over the top.
We also played more consistent tonight than I think we've played in the past. We had a good match start-to-finish which is really encouraging to see because being in our conference we can't afford to let down at all - that's all a team needs to attack us. So overall I was really proud of my team especially in coming back from a not-so-stellar weekend in Wisconsin.
I was glad we were able to learn from that and take away some positives and learn from our mistakes and make adjustments which made us an even stronger team tonight. I think that we will continue to make strides in the right and positive directions until we reach our goal...top of our conference...just you wait and see what we can do :)
Another great thing about tonight was the fans!! It was great to have quite a few people in the stands cheering for us, I can't even explain to people how much it means to have people cheering for us when we do something really good, it's a huge momentum builder and it helps us stay in a match when things are tight. So thanks to all of you who were there and next time bring a friend with you!
Well, Fort Hays and Emporia are on the agenda next and I can't wait to come home with a conference win! (I'm fully confident that we will!)
