Northwest Travels to the Wisconsin-Parkside Tourney

Maryville, Mo. - The Bearcat volleyball team travels to Kenosha, Wis., this weekend for the Wisconsin-Parkside Tournament. This is the first time in program history that the Bearcats will be traveling to the state of Wisconsin.

Northwest will open play Friday morning against Quincy at 11 and then face St. Joseph's college at 4 p.m. The Bearcats will play host-Wisconsin-Parkside at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and will wrap-up the tournament at night against No. 13 Indianapolis at 5:30. Indianapolis will be the first ranked opponent that the Bearcats will face this season.

This is Northwest's first ever meeting against St. Joseph's. The Bearcats haven't faced either Indianapolis or Wisconsin-Parkside since the early 90's. Northwest defeated Quincy last weekend in Bearcat Arena at the Comfort INNvitational 3-1, and improved their all-time record against the Hawks to 9-4.

Kelsey Larson recorded a career-high 14 kills in the match to lead the Bearcats past Quincy. Sara Falcone and Amber Ryan each recorded six block assists in the match. While Laira Akin led the Bearcats with 38 assists.

Falcone and Akin were named to the Comfort INNvitational all-tournament team for their efforts. Falcone led the tournament with 15 blocks while recording 34 kills and leading the Bearcats with a .307 hitting percentage. Akin finished second in the tournament with 11 assists per set, and also had 23 digs, eight blocks and four service aces.
