Comfort INNvitational All-Tournament Team Released

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State sophomore setter Laira Akin and junior hitter Sara Falcone have been named to the Northwest Comfort INNvitational All-Tournament Team released Saturday. The Bearcats went 3-1 at the two-day tournament and are 6-2 overall.

Tournament champion Minnesota State-Moorhead had three players named to the eight-player team, including the tournament's Most Valuable Player in junior hitter Laura Tvrdik. She was joined by teammates Leigh Splittstoesser, a junior setter, and junior hitter Ashley Pyfferoen.

Texas A&M Commerce freshman hitter Morgan Moeller, Newman junior hitter Chelsey Potter and Quincy freshman libero Damaris Linker complete the team. Tournament standings and notes on each player can be found below:

Laura Tvrdik (MSU-Moorhead): Led all players with 50 kills and a hitting percentage of .488 … also had five assists, two digs and eight blocks … had double-digit kills in all four matches, including a tournament-high 15 against Northwest, a match she hit .700 … had 13 kills and five blocks in a win against Texas A&M-Commerce

Leigh Splittstoesser (MSU-Moorhead): Averaged a tournament-high 12.6 assists per game and assisted on 164 of the Dragons' 183 tournament kills … also had seven kills against one error for an attack percentage of .462 … had four service aces and 25 digs … had 45 assists in two matches and 41 in a third … had eight digs and three kills against Newman

Ashley Pyfferoen (MSU-Moorhead): Kill total of 44 was the tournament's second-best total behind teammate Laura Tvrdik … also ranked third on the team with 28 digs and fourth in blocks with seven … had four service aces … reached double-digit kills in three matches, including a tournament-best 13 against Texas A&M-Commerce … had 12 kills and nine digs against Newman

Laira Akin (Northwest): Averaged 11 assists per game, the second-highest tally in tournament play … also had 23 digs, eight blocks and four service aces … had 40 assists in a 3-0 win against Newman … had eight digs against Texas A&M-Commerce and Quincy

Sara Falcone (Northwest): Led the tournament with 15 blocks and was one of four players to reach 10 … led Northwest with a .307 attack percentage … finished second on the team in both kills, 34, and digs, 29 … had 13 kills against Newman … had seven kills, 10 digs and six blocks in a win against Quincy

Morgan Moeller (Texas A&M-Commerce): Led the Lions with an attack percentage of .290 while finishing with the second-most kills, 27 … also had five service aces, 19 digs and four blocks … had 11 kills against one error and seven digs in win against Newman … had seven kills and three blocks against Moorhead

Chelsey Potter (Newman): Led the Jets with a .262 attack percentage and her 30 kills and 34 digs were the second-highest tallies on the team … had a double-double (11 kills, 16 digs) against Texas A&M-Commerce … had eight kills against one error against Quincy and nine kills against two errors against Moorhead

Damaris Linker (Quincy): Averaged 3.69 digs per game in tournament play … total of 48 digs were the fourth-highest by any tournament player … also had six assists and four service aces … had double-digit kills in three matches with a tournament-best 16 against Moorhead … had 10 digs and two aces against Northwest
