Northwest Closes Out Home Season with Missouri Western
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The final week of the 2008 regular season begins at home as Northwest Missouri State (9-22, 6-12) welcomes Missouri Western (4-30, 1-17) Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. A win will provide the Bearcats their fourth-straight win in the series and hand the Griffons their 14th straight road loss.
Paige Spangenberg will look to continue her climb up the career digs records after setting the season mark at 621 with 26 digs against No. 14 Central Missouri Nov. 5. She needs 11 to move past Becky Brown for seventh and 26 to move past Jennifer Waldron for sixth.
Northwest won the first matchup of the season 3-1 Oct. 15 in St. Joseph, Mo. Iesha Haskins made a career-high eight blocks and added eight kills in that match. Rachel Nisi led the Bearcats with 10 kills.
Alex Hanna is carrying a six-match streak of 10 or more kills into Wednesday's match, an average of 3.71 per set. She's hit greater than .300 in half of those matches and is currently second on the team this season with 277 kills and a 2.54 average.
The Bearcats have played 280 sets with the Griffons since 1977, the most against any opponent in program history. A sweep will make the Griffons winless in the last six sets played in Bearcat Arena.
