Hanna Leads Bearcat Offense in Loss to Gorillas
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Alex Hanna led the Northwest offense for the third straight match, but the Bearcats (8-20, 5-10) only managed to win a set in a 3-1 loss to No. 18 Pittsburg State (23-6, 9-5) tonight in Bearcat Arena.
After a start-to-finish win in the first set for the Gorillas, the Bearcats trailed only once in the second set to claim a 25-23 victory and even the match at 1-1. Hanna and Sara Falcone each made six kills in the set to lead all players.
Pittsburg State used long rallies to close out both the third and fourth sets, with final scores of 25-13 and 25-12, respectively, to claim the 3-1 victory.
Hanna made 14 kills and surpassed 10 kills for the 10th time this season. Amber Ryan made 11 kills off 22 attacks and made only two attack errors for a .409 hitting percentage, her highest in 13 matches. Falcone added another 11 kills and 10 blocks for her second career double-double.
Paige Spangenberg made 27 digs tonight to improve her season total to 544 and tie for third in all-time records with Stacy Hoeslcher.
