Spangenberg Named MIAA Specialist of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sophomore libero Paige Spangenberg earned MIAA Specialist of the Week honors after averaging 7.45 digs last week. It's the first such career honor for Spangenberg and the first for the Bearcat volleyball team this season.
Spangenberg started last week with 20 digs against No. 7 Washburn Oct. 21 to become the 12th player in program history with 1,000 career digs. Against Fort Hays State Oct. 24, she made 46 digs to break the program single-match record and tallied the highest dig total among any MIAA player this season. She added another 16 digs at No. 9 Emporia State to finish the week with 82.
Spangenberg leads the MIAA with 5.21 digs per set this season and is currently eighth in program season records with 474 digs this season.
Spangenberg and the rest of the Bearcats begin a busy four-match week by hosting Rockhurst Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
