No. 14 Central Missouri Sweeps Northwest
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Central Missouri, the MIAA's top serving team, recorded 10 aces with half coming from Caitlin Pankratz in sweeping Northwest Missouri State 25-13, 25-21, 25-13 in Bearcat Arena tonight. The 14th-ranked Jennies (19-6, 7-2) led start-to-finish in the final set.
Northwest tied the second set eight times, the last at 16-16, until a 9-5 Central Missouri rally put the set away at 25-21. The Bearcats held a hitting advantage in the second set (.250-.217), but made only 11 kills compared to Central Missouri's 16.
Rachel Nisi led the Bearcats at the net with six kills and recorded her fifth straight match with a block. Paige Spangenberg led all players with 18 digs to improve her career average to 4.72 digs per set. Amber Ryan and Sara Falcone each made a pair of blocks in contributing to four team stops.
Up Next: Northwest travels to rival Missouri Western Oct. 15. First serve from Looney Complex is 7 p.m. and will be the first volleyball match from Missouri Western featured on themiaa.tv.
