MARYVILLE, Mo. - The last time a visiting volleyball team entered Bearcat Arena was Oct. 31, 2007. After 14 matches, Northwest welcomes opponents once again to start the 2008 home schedule. The Bearcats (3-9, 0-1) battle Fort Hays State (6-3, 1-0) Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.

The Tigers swept their MIAA opener against Missouri Western earlier this week. Tracie Hileman and Leanna Roberts led Fort Hays State with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, and limited the Griffons to a .054 hitting percentage. Fort Hays State has won four of its last five matches.

Northwest is coming off a 3-0 loss at third-ranked Washburn Sept. 17. Rachel Nisi led the Bearcats with 11 kills, the most allowed by the Lady Blues in a three-set match this season. Nisi recorded double-digit kills for the third time this season and first time since the opening weekend.

Katie Swenson extended her double-double streak to four matches with 29 assists and 13 digs at Washburn. She improved to seven on the season and 22 in her career.

Head Coach Anna Tool is 2-0 against Fort Hays State all-time, outscoring the Tigers 6-1 in her two seasons. Another win would tie Tool with Lori Slight at sixth in all-time Northwest coaching records with 35 victories.

The Tigers are making their second trip to Bearcat Arena in program history. In their first trip to Maryville in 2006, Northwest swept Fort Hays State for its first home win of the season. Amy Bohnker recorded 10 kills and four blocks.
