Bearcats Close Out MSSU Invitational in Loss to Dallas Baptist
JOPLIN, Mo. - Sara Falcone reached double-digit kills for the first time this season and hit .526 as Northwest Missouri State volleyball fell in three sets to Dallas Baptist 25-19, 25-23, 25-23.
The Bearcats (2-6) jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second set, helped by a pair of kills from Rachel Nisi. Northwest held the lead until a five-point rally put the Patriots up 23-22 in the only lead change of the set.
With seven ties and four lead changes in the third set, Northwest couldn't survive another late rally from Dallas Baptist. The Patriots used a 5-2 scoring run to claim the final set 25-23.
Falcone led the Bearcats with 11 kills, committing only one attack error on 19 attempts. Andrea Potter handled setting duties with 20 assists, while Paige Spangenberg and Sage Diessner shared the defensive digs lead with 12 apiece. Amber Ryan also tallied three blocks to lead Northwest.
Northwest wraps up its final nonconference tournament next weekend in the program's first visit to New York. The Bearcats travel to the Dowling College Tournament Sept. 12-13 in Oakdale, N.Y.
