Volleyball Adds Transfers for 2008

MARYVILLE - Northwest Missouri State head volleyball coach Anna Tool will add high school teammates for 2008, signing Nicole Ljutic (pronounced LOU-tec) and accepting a commitment from Sage Diessner. Ljutic will transfer from Bellevue (Wash.) Community College, while Diessner will transfer from Palomar (Calif.) Community College. Both graduated from West Valley High School in Yakima, Wash.

"Nicole is a very strong defensive player, but I'm looking for her to see some outside hitting time," said Tool. "Sage should be able to push for the libero spot this season."

Ljutic was a two-year captain at Bellevue, earning team MVP both seasons. She led the Bulldogs to a 13-6 record in 2007, recording 206 kills and 47 blocks. She earned first-team all-league and all-region honors in high school.

Diessner ranked seventh in the Pacific Coast Conference in both digs and digs per game, helping lead the Comets to a second-place conference showing in 2007. She also ranked 10th in conference kills, 12th in kills per game and 13th in attack percentage.

Ljutic and Diessner join Minka Foster (Sullfolk, Va.), Alex Hanna (Red Oak, Iowa) and Brit Bahr (Lenexa, Kan.) as new additions to the Bearcat volleyball program. Northwest returns seven athletes who advanced to the MIAA Tournament for the second straight season in 2007.
