Bearcats Drop 3-1 Match to No. 11 PSU

MARYVILLE, Mo. - (stats) The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 11 Pittsburg State. The Bearcats fell in games one and two, before beating the Gorillas 30-25 in game three. Pittsburg State closed out Northwest 30-20 in the final game.

The loss moves the Bearcats to 15-13 overall and 4-5 in the MIAA, while Pittsburg State improves to 22-4 overall and 6-3 in the MIAA.

In game three, Northwest hit .500 at the net with Alicia Johnson and Sara Falcone recording five kills and Katie Swenson dishing out 18 assists. Northwest struggled offensively in the three losses, hitting below .300 all three games.

Johnson and Rachel Nisi each had 16 kills for the Bearcats, while Falcone chipped in 15. Swenson finished with 57 assists and led the team defensively with 14 digs.

The Bearcats next match is in Bolivar, Mo. on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. against Southwest Baptist.
