Bearcats Fall in Three to No. 5 Central Missouri
MARYVILLE - (Box Score) Northwest Missouri State volleyball closed out its 11-game home stand in a 3-0 loss to No. 5 Central Missouri in Bearcat Arena today. The Bearcats remained consistent with 30-23, 30-22, 30-23 scores.
Northwest now stands 9-10 and 1-2 in the MIAA. The Jennies improve to 18-1 and remain undefeated in MIAA play at 5-0.
The Bearcats took a 9-8 lead early in game one before the Jennies strung together a 7-2 rally and took a 15-11 lead. Central Missouri kept the lead for a 30-23 win to open the match.
Amy Bohnker made two straight solo blocks midway through game two, allowing the Bearcats to tie the game at 16. Central Missouri never allowed Northwest to take the lead, using a 5-1 run to take a 21-17 lead on the way to a 30-22 win in game two.
Both teams stayed within two points of each other during the first half of game three before the Jennies rattled off three points to take a 25-20 lead. Central Missouri took the third game at 30-23.
Alicia Johnson led Northwest with 13 kills and 11 digs. Sara Falcone hit .394 with 11 kills and three errors on 22 attempts. Katie Swenson tallied 36 assists. Bohnker led the Bearcats with four blocks.
The Bearcats hit the road on Sept. 25, taking on Missouri Western at 7 p.m.
