
The Bearcats nearly became the first unranked team to top No. 17 Augustana losing 3-2 in nearly a two hour match. Northwest dropped game one before taking down the Vikings in games two and three. Game four was filled with drama as Northwest had match point at 30-29 before the Vikings reeled off three straight points to force a game five. In game five, the Bearcats led only once grabbing to first point as Augustana opened with a 10-5 run.
The loss Northwest drops to 5-6 and improves the Vikings to 10-2.
Alicia Johnson paced the Bearcats offensively with 25 kills, a career-high, and 11 digs. Its the seventh double-double for Johnson this season. Katie Swenson also tabbed a few career-highs dishing out 66 assists and recording 20 digs. Sara Falcone was the most efficient at the net hitting .324 (15 K, 4 E, 34 Att).
The Bearcats will finish the first annual Bearcat Classic with a 7 pm match against Newman (Kan.).
