Match Six: Northwest 3, Texas A&M International 0 (30-10, 30-18, 30-23)
Northwest needed just three games to handle the Texas A&M International Dustdevils hitting a season high .433 at the net. The .433 hitting percentage is good for the third best team hitting percentage in Bearcat history. The win improved the Bearcats to 5-5 and continued to keep the Dustdevils from the win column at 0-4.
In game one, the Bearcats broke a 6-6 tie with a 15-1 run blowing out Texas A&M International 30-10. Northwest continued to play solid volleyball, hitting .583 in game two and committing just one attack error. Game three was again all Bearcats jumping out to an early 10-4 lead and winning 30-23.
A match after a career high in kills, Alicia Johnson added another career high hitting .600 (12 K, 0 E, 20 Att). Both Rachel Nisi and Sara Falcone also added 12 kills in the sweep. Setter Katie Swenson dished out 37 assists and Paige Spangenberg recorded 17 digs.
The Bearcat Classic will wrap up tomorrow, Sept. 8, with another six matches starting at 9 am with Northwest playing No. 17 Augustana at 3 pm and Newman University at 7 pm.
