Match Three: South Dakota 3, Northwest 1 (30-24, 30-20, 22-30, 30-27)
South Dakota got double-digit kills from five players and double-digit digs from five players to get past Northwest, 3-1, in the third match of the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Classic. Scores went 30-24, 30-20, 22-30 and 30-27.
Augustana earned its 10th straight win to start the season. Northwest, playing in its season opener, fell to 4-5.
Alicia Johnson had a career-high 19 kills for the Bearcats and got 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Rachel Nisi had 17 kills and 11 digs for Northwest and hit a team-best .286. Sara Falcone added 12 kills.
Kathleen Hruska led the Coyotes with 16 kills. Ashley Gross and Kristin Kritenbrink finished with 13 slams apiece. South Dakota outhit the Bearcats .239-.208 and outblocked Northwest 8-6.
Northwest fought back from seven points down in game four and tied the match at 27 on a kill from Falcone. Gross and Kritenbrink responded for South Dakota by recorded two of the last three Coyote points.
