MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State head volleyball coach Anna Tool went back to her roots to sign 6-0 middle hitter Amber Ryan from Esko, Minn. today. Tool is a 1995 graduate of Esko High School where Ryan is a four-year letter winner for volleyball and earned All-Section 5AA honors and Polar League All-Conference honors in her sophomore, junior and senior years. Ryan also earned All-Academic 5AA honors her sophomore and junior years. Ryan participated in the Polar League All-Star game her junior year and was named to the Duluth News Tribune All-Area First Team in 2005. Most recently, she was named to the 2006 Minnesota All-State Team and will compete in both the Polar League and Bernick’s Pepsi All-Star games. Ryan will be a freshman beginning in 2007.
Tool said, “I am very excited that Amber has decided to join us next year. She will fit in well and has the potential to be a high-impact player her freshman year. Amber is an extremely hard worker and a fast learner which will help her make the transition from high school to college quickly.”
Ryan also competes in basketball and track at Esko High School. As a junior, she earned all-conference honors in basketball and was a state tournament participant. Ryan also competed in the 4 x 400 meter relay during the 2006 Minnesota State track meet and is a five-year letter winner in track.
