Two Bearcats are Honored
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Seniors MacKenzie Heston and Molly Hankins both received honors for their performances in the Henderson State Volleyball Classic. Heston was an all-tournament team selection at the HSU Classic in Arkadelphia, Ark., while Hankins won Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Specialist of the week for the second time this season.
Heston recorded 57 kills and had a hitting percentage of .285 in the four-match HSU Classic. She also moved into fourth all-time on the Northwest Missouri State career kills list over the weekend. Heston played well defensively with 43 digs and 14 blocks. Heston led the Bearcats in kills twice and recorded three double-doubles in four matches. This is the second time she has been honored at a tournament. She received all-tournament team at the Missouri Southern Tournament. Heston is a graduate of Ankeny High School.
Hankins averaged nearly 50 assists per match totaling 199 assists in four matches. She averaged 13.27 assists per game for fourth best in HSU Classic. Hankins also chipped in double digits digs twice with 39 total. In the Henderson State match, she recorded 61 assists topping 60 for the second time this season. She won this same award back on Aug. 29. Hankins is a graduate of Moline High School, and transferred to Northwest from Kirkwood (Iowa) Community College.
Northwest went 3-1 in the HSU Classic and now sit 12-15 overall (3-6 MIAA) with five matches left.
