Bearcats Fall to #16 Nebraska-Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. - (3-0 L) A sluggish offense hurt Northwest Missouri State as Nebraska-Omaha swept the Bearcats 3-0. The Bearcats recorded only 40 kills as a team for their third lowest output of the season. Defensively, Northwest against lacked net presence with only four blocks. The Mavericks recorded 56 kills as a team and had a hitting percentage of .284 in the win.
Senior MacKenzie Heston led the team in kills for the seventh straight match with 17 and hit .270 at the net. No other Bearcat had more than eight kills. Junior Nicole Wojtowicz topped the digs chart with 16 while Heston chipped in 13. Senior Molly Hankins recorded 31 assists, her second lowest output of the season.
Nebraska-Omaha was led by Christina Reicks with 15 kills and 16 digs. She led in both statistical categories. Stacie Wemhoff tied Reicks in the digs department with 16.
The Bearcats are now 8-13 (2-5 MIAA).
Northwest plays at home on Friday, Oct. 6 against Southwest Baptist at 7 p.m. The Bearcats travel to Pittsburg State on Saturday, Oct. 7 for a 6:30 p.m. match. It will be the first and only meeting between Pittsburg State and Northwest Missouri State on Saturday.
