Bearcats Struggle in Second Day of Western Tournament
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State lost to Southwest Minnesota State University 3-0 at the Ramada Inn Invitational hosted by Missouri Western. The Mustangs of Southwest won by scores of 30-24, 30-22 and 30-25. Senior Allison Hyland led the team with 7 kills and a .375 hitting percentage, while Junior Nicole Wojtowicz recorded 24 digs.
In the second match of the day #24 Nebraska-Omaha beat Northwest 3-0. The Bearcats kept all the games close losing the second and third games by just 2 points. Seniors Sarah Trowbridge and MacKenzie Heston led Northwest with 15 digs apiece. Trowbridge also recorded 13 kills and had a .300 hitting percentage to lead Northwest. Hankins also pitched in 45 assists.
Next week Northwest opens conference play when they take on Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. on Sept. 5th at 7 p.m. The Bearcats will travel to the Washburn Invite next weekend for a three match tournament from Sept. 8-9.
