Must Win for Northwest Volleyball
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team faces a must win situation this weekend, as it takes on Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern on the road.
Tonight, the Bearcats will face off against Southwest Baptist at 7 p.m., a team Northwest swept at home earlier this season. On Saturday, Northwest will travel to Missouri Southern for an early match starting at noon. Northwest and Missouri Southern played to the max in the match at Bearcat Arena, with the Bearcats winning in five.
For the Bearcats, they will have to beat both teams and hope Pittsburg State loses its final three contests in hopes of making the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament for the first time since 2000.
All of Pitt State's final matches are at home, as they host Missouri Western, Truman State and Missouri Southern. Pittsburg holds the seasons edge over Northwest after beating the Bearcats both times they have played.
The Bearcats are 13-18 overall and 3-11 in the MIAA, Pittsburg State is 10-18 overall and 4-9 in the conference.
