Cummings Named MIAA Co-Hitter of the Week
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-- Northwest Missouri State volleyball athlete Lauren Cummings (Ankeny, Iowa) was named Co-Hitter of the Week by The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, for the week of Oct. 24.
Last week, Cummings hit .500 (24 kills-4 errors-40 total attempts) as the Bearcats went 1-1 against two MIAA opponents. Cummings totaled 13 kills and only one error in the win over Missouri Western on Oct. 19. In the loss to Truman on Oct. 22, she had 11 kills and only three errors.
"She has been playing very well the past four weeks." said assistant coach Andrea King. "For her to get MIAA Player of the Week was great for her and the team."
For the week, Cummings averaged 4.0 kills, .50 blocks and .33 service aces in six games.
The Player of the Week award is the first for Northwest since available records go back to 2001.
Northwest will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 26 against Pittsburg State at 6 p.m. in Bearcat Arena.
